Direct payments, safe and secure
We’ve all written them: those oh-so-polite gentle reminder emails to a client with an outstanding invoice. They can be awkward, annoying, uncomfortable, and they rarely make it easy for your clients to actually settle their bill.
And copy-pasting your banking details into an email, for your clients to send a wire, can leave you feeling exposed.
With Relay’s new payment request feature, you can create a request (including that all-important payment link) and send it to your customer via email or text, directly from Relay’s platform.
This adds a layer of extra security. The account details shared in the payment request link are for a pass-through account, protecting your real account details from exposure.
We’ve added the request tool under the Payments menu in the sidebar. Here’s how it works:
Create a payment request: To generate a payment request, enter the customer’s contact info, the amount owed, and the payment due date. You can also include a personal message or attach an invoice.
Send the payment request: Choose to send the payment request link to your customer by email or text— whichever works best for you both!
Track payment status: Keep track of all your outstanding payment requests in Relay.
Receive the payment: Your customer clicks the link and sends payment via ACH or wire transfer directly to your Relay account of choice. No wait times. No fees. No need for any other third-party payment tools or processors.
The power to get paid easily and on time
There’s nothing more frustrating than knowing you should be able to cover an expense but can’t because a client is late in settling an invoice. “Take your time!” said no business owner ever when it comes to getting paid for goods or services they’ve already delivered on.
For entrepreneurs, an overdue or unpaid invoice can set off a financial domino effect that triggers a string of money misfortunes. How do you cover your utility bills or make payroll when you yourself haven’t been paid? The cash flow tightrope only gets tighter when you stack late fees or insufficient funds penalties on top of what you already owe.
Relay’s new feature aims to increase the control you have over when and how you get paid — without increasing your workload.
The power to get paid on time is tied directly to the health of your cash flow. Our new payment request feature provides business owners with the information they need to plan their next money moves and avoid shortfalls, business disruptions, and missed opportunities.
And with receivables centralized into banking, you’ll be collecting payments directly into your Relay checking account, skipping the wait that comes with third-party invoice processing. Invoice payments will offer the same detailed transaction data you’ve come to rely on from Relay, boosting your bookkeeping capabilities and simplifying cash flow management even further.
